QUESTION 40
Ravi purchased 3 types of chocolates worth Rs.45. Each eclair costs ₹3 and caramel costs ₹2 and mint costs ₹1. He brought twice as many mints as caramels. how many eclairs could he have bought? 1.4 2.7 3.6 4.10
From the question 3E+2C+M = 45 C=2M So 3E+5M = 45 => E+M+2M/3 = 15 => 2M/3 = 15-(E+M) => M is multiple of 3 =>M=3,6,9,12... But M cannot be greater than or equal to 9(3E+5M=45) So M has to be 6 or 3 If M=3 then E=10 and M=6 then E=5
7 is the answer
ReplyDeleteit should be 7
ReplyDeleteHow u did that..
ReplyDeleteGuess there is no other method other than trial n error
From the question
ReplyDelete3E+2C+M = 45
C=2M
So
3E+5M = 45
=> E+M+2M/3 = 15
=> 2M/3 = 15-(E+M)
=> M is multiple of 3 =>M=3,6,9,12...
But M cannot be greater than or equal to 9(3E+5M=45)
So M has to be 6 or 3
If M=3 then E=10 and M=6 then E=5
The solution mentioned above is wrong
ReplyDeleteIt's m=2c and hence the answer will b 7
